Comment Information
Thanks for your interest in commenting on the Sinisefans News blog.
Here are a few things you should know:
- If you are new to commenting here, your comment won’t appear immediately unless you are a registered user. A moderator needs to approve your first comment; after that your comments will appear right away. This helps prevent spam (we get about 100 spam comments attempted every day, none of which show up on the blog due to the moderation policy).
- Gary does drop by and read our blog from time to time. Blog comments, however, are not a way of getting in touch with him. Comments are a place to comment on the item or discuss it with fellow fans. Comments are not the place to leave a personal message for Gary, ask him to participate in your event, support your charity, or to pitch your screenplay. He probably will never see it, and even if he did, it’s simply not appropriate. If you wish to contact Gary by regular mail, please visit the Feedback page for information. (We cannot receive email for him, either.)
- This website and the associated mailing list have a history going back to 1996. It is first and foremost a fan site dedicated to Gary’s creative works. It’s visited by people from all around the world, of different backgrounds and political persuasions. We are here to share what unites us — our appreciation for Gary’s work.
- Therefore, comments are not a place to post inflammatory political statements. Period. There are approximately a billion places to discuss politics on the Internet — this is not one of them. Thus:
- Discussing your appreciation for what Gary does for the troops, veterans, and USO is perfectly fine.
- Discussing the war, who supports it, who doesn’t, and why or why not — is political. This isn’t the place for it, or for complaining about people in the entertainment industry or the news media of any political persuasion. If it’s not related to Gary, it doesn’t belong here. If it’s political, it doesn’t belong here.
- To facilitate the goals noted above, the moderators reserve the right to reject or edit any comment. If the comment is approved but edited, any editing will be indicated in the comment in italics, e.g.: [edited by mod. for political content]. We will also edit any personal information, such as addresses or phone numbers (which really, you shouldn’t be posting on the Internet anyway!)
- We aren’t trying to “censor” anyone or prevent anyone from expressing their views. We are simply trying to keep this site what it was intended to be — a place for Gary’s fans to gather and share in our appreciation for his creative work. It’s simply not a place for politics or political agendas, and we intend to keep it that way. If that isn’t what you’re looking for, thanks for dropping by, and we wish you well. If it is, you’re more than welcome to join in a community with a long history and a door that’s always open to all of Gary’s fans.
