Gary and the LDB in Illinois this Summer

Gary and the Lt. Dan Band will be performing a concert to benefit Operation Support our Troops Illinois on Saturday, July 22, at 8 pmat Catigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois.

Operation Support our Troops Illinois is a volunteer organization that provides care packages for military personnel. The concert will raise money for postage.

Tickets are $20 dollars in advance; $25 day of (cash only at the door). Tickets are good for all-day admission to the park and parking is free.

Lt. Dan Band “America Supports You” Salute Performance Video On-line

The Pentagon Channel has the video available on-line of the entire Lt. Dan Band performance at the American Supports You Salute concert held on Friday, May 5th.

There is a brief introduction by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and a few words from Gary about his recent trip to Afghanistan. After that, enjoy Gary and the Lt. Dan Band as they perform a wide variety of songs including the theme song from CSI:NY “Baba O’Riley.”

Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band Help DoD Kick Off Military Appreciation Month

Actor and director Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band will perform during an afternoon concert at the Pentagon beginning at noon, Friday, May 5, helping the Department of Defense’s America Supports You program kick off Military Appreciation Month.

America Supports You is an ongoing nationwide initiative that showcases and communicates America�s support for the men and women of the Armed Forces. Since its launch in November 2004 by DoD, the America Supports You program has welcomed more than 200 grassroots organizations and more than 20 corporate sponsers to its team. Twenty-seven of those groups will be attendance at the concert. For a complete list of the groups attending the concert, please visit: defense link.

Renowned for his role as Lt. Dan in the movie Forrest Gump, Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band have performed USO concerts for military men and women at American military bases across the United States and throughout Europe. Gary Sinise recently returned from a trip visiting the troops in Afghanistan.

Other Military Appreciation Month events America Supports You will be highlighting are the Joint Open House at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., May 19-20; New York City Fleet Week in New York City, N.Y., May 23-29; and the Indianapolis 500 in Indianapolis, Ind., May 29.

Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event and please have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.

Gary and Lt. Dan Band Perform at Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s 3rd Annual Golf Classic

Gary and the Lt. Dan Band performed at the closing night gala of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s 3rd Annual Golf Classic taking place this weekend in and around Palm Springs. Stormy weather kept the golfers off the links, but it matter little - a poker tournament was set up instead.The opening night reception was hosted by film critic and Chicagoan, Roger Ebert. Also in attendance were Steppenwolf Theatre folks such as artistic director Martha Lavey and ensemble member Kevin Anderson. Other celebrities on hand for the weekend included Carmen Giovinazzo, Dick Butkus, Ken Howard, Andy Richter, Gordon Clapp, Robert Hays, Gregory Harrison, Kevin Sorbo, Richard Karn, Bruce McGill, and TV’s “24″ president, Greg Itzen.

In previous years, the golf classic has raised $1 million to support the theatre.

Lt. Dan Band Tours CSI Set & Performs for CSI Cast and CBS crew

Gary’s friend and co-founder of Lt. Dan Band, Kimo Williams, recently shared that Gary took the entire band on a tour of the CSI set. The band played on the CSI lot for all those who work on the show and other shows at CBS. Kimo said it was great fun and probably the first time many folks that Gary works with were able to see just how good the band was - but more specifically how good Gary was. Kimo said everyone was quite impressed. He also said the band will probably do it again next year. Actor Gary Sinise has found time in his busy schedule–mainly shooting his CBS show “CSI: New York”–to pop into Chicago with his Lt. Dan Band next weekend for a benefit concert at Joe’s Bar, 940 W. Weed St. Sinise says all proceeds from Saturday’s show–tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $15 for military personnel or veterans with proper ID–will go to the United States Vietnam Arts Program. “I just feel that as a citizen of the United States and as somewhat of a celebrity,” the Steppenwolf alum told us, “I can use that to help out, pitch in and give back in some way.”
