Great article with some nice pictures! Thanks to the author for the tip.
Gary’s currently in Europe with the LDB on a USO tour, and will be heading on his own to Iraq for the USO in the next day or two. He’ll be back in the States for Memorial Day weekend, which for Gary will include the GI Film Festival and acting as Grand Marshall for the National Memorial Day Parade.
After that? A well-deserved vacation before returning to the set of CSI:NY. (We hope he has a very relaxing and enjoyable one!)
As you may recall, we’ve been rather skeptical about the Star Trek XI rumors, filing them under “speculation” — we can now confirm that’s all it was. Gary recently confirmed to the Washington Times that his casting as Dr. McCoy was a “bad rumor.” (Oh! Since I have sort-of an excuse to link to this — if you haven’t seen LOL Trek, you really, really should. I haven’t seen anything quite so funny on the Internet in a long time.)
Finally — I can’t seem to resist pointing out that people are actually still asking this question.
There’s a nice column today in the Orange County (California) Register about Gary’s USO work and his unswerving support for serving troops and their families.
Military newspaper Stars & Stripes has a few details about the LDB’s summer USO tour. They’ll be playing five shows in Germany: Spangdahlem (May 8th), Hohenfels (May 9), Ansbach (May 10), Stuttgart (May 11) and Ramstein (May 14). They also have one performance scheduled for Belgium, on May 12 in Mons.
Coverage of the LDB’s performance in Hawaii, including several pictures, can be found at the Honolulu Advertiser and KGMB-9.
(Thanks to those who’ve left a Guestbook entry thus far — see the prior post — as an experiment, it’s going really well!)
The Lt. Dan Band currently has the following dates scheduled:
They are also planning a European USO tour for this summer.
Get out and see the LDB — you won’t be disappointed!
Gary is scheduled to help the USO celebrate its one millionth Operation USO Care Package Saturday, November 11th at the USO Warehouse in Fort Belvior, Virginia. To celebrate, service members and volunteers will assemble some 10,000 care packages at a Care Package Stuffing Party from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Among them will be the one millionth care package.
Military leadership, USO World Headquarters and USO of Metropolitan Washington leadership, USO board members and program sponsors will also be in attendance.
Care packages are distributed to service members deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan and other overseas locations.
Please visit the USO website to see photos of USO events Gary has attended over the past year (and learn more about the USO) at: USO Gallery.
Gary and the Lt. Dan Band will be performing a concert for soldiers at Fort Carson, Colorado on August 12.
As always, we’d love pictures and/or reports from anyone who attends — sinisefans at sinisefans.org.
Sorry, all. I was at ComicCon with an author friend last weekend (her books totally rock, btw, you should read them!) and I got way behind on everything. (If you are interested, my report, such as it is, is in my personal journal.)
Anyway! Back now. Tired, but back. So here’s a quick round-up of news items:
And I think… we’re pretty much caught up. I hope you are all staying cool, wherever you are!

Thanks again to Rob Kyser for the awesome photos!
This morning we have a couple of more articles for you on the Whiteman AFB show by Gary and the Lt. Dan Band — from the AP via the Kansas City Star and the Sedalia Democrat.
Courtesy of the local paper, a nice article about Gary and the LDB at Whiteman Air Force Base. Photos, too.
