100 Years… 100 Cheers

Gary is one of a number of big names scheduled to appear this week on “AFI’s 100 Years … 100 Cheers: America’s Most Inspiring Movies.”

“In a continuation of AFI’s celebration of the first 100 years of cinema, ERIN BROCKOVICH, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, NORMA RAE, ROCKY, SEABISCUIT, THE SOUND OF MUSIC and hundreds more will vie for the title of Most Inspiring Film of The Century. AFI’s 100 Years . . . 100 Cheers: America’s Most Inspiring Movies will count down America’s 100 most inspiring films, as chosen by experts of the motion picture community…”

As the press release lists Tom Hanks, along with Henry Fonda, as the most represented male actors on the ballot with eight inspiring movies each, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, and The Green Mile make the cut. (And I’d be surprised if one of Henry Fonda’s entries wasn’t The Grapes of Wrath, another story with a strong Sinise connection.)

The special airs this Wednesday, June 14, from 8 to 11 pm EDT/PDT on CBS.

Yes, Virginia, there is an…

…albino alligator? Well okay then! We never doubted for a moment, really.

Also, a (vaguely annoying) article about the 10th anniversary of Bubba Gump restaurants.

Sinisefans Updates

As you can probably tell if you’re a regular visitor, we’ve had a busy couple of weeks around here.

Summary of what we’ve done:

– New look for the site! (Yes, it’s long overdue.)

– Learned (just) enough CSS to update the template for this page so it matches the rest of the site.

– Added feeds for this page. Use the links below to add a feed for this page to your newsreader, or to add our feed to your My Yahoo!, Google newsreader, etc.

– Error checked this page with a variety of browsers and operating systems — it works with everything we’ve tried except much older browsers (e.g. Netscape 4.7).

– Added new project pages for:

o The Forgotten
o The Big Bounce
o The Human Stain
o CSI: New York (more photos soon)
o Fallen Angel

– Updated the Stage & Screen page, checked links and updated the DVDs & More page, streamlined and updated the Links page, added Google site search to the Search page.

Next on the agenda is replacing the screen caps on the pages for older projects. (Hard to believe those were once state of the art, isn’t it?) We’ll also, hopefully, be adding a feedback form.

Do you feel inclined to volunteer? Here’s where we need help:

o We’d like to install a custom cgi script for site search in place of the Google box. We have cgi access, but unfortunately not much of a clue about how cgi works.

o We could use a little help with screencapping, specifically The Dress Code and the new DVD release of My Name is Bill W. Contact us if you can help.

Anyway — that’s where we’re at. We hope you enjoy. As always, feedback is welcomed, either by comment here or to sinisefans @ sinisefans . org.
